Well, as this is my second baby, there is little other to be done. I know that newborns need very little. Baby will have most of Sister's newborn clothes (they were pretty gender neutral). I will have to take clothes and diapers from the attic to wash and prep.
I have registered for a few bottles and little items that could be bought if someone was interested in sending a gift. We saved pretty much everything.
We won't be painting anything (I refuse). We will need to purchase (beg, borrow, or steal) a dresser for baby's clothes. Sister doesn't fill the dresser now but her clothes keep getting bigger and will be bulkier come cooler weather.
Prepare for postpartum
I was surprised by the difficulty that postpartum brought. I know with two it will not be easy, but I hope we will be better prepared this time. I've been cooking and freezing. Big and small portions, various meals and sides. My in laws gave us a large chest freezer that I intend to fill over the summer. I know breast feeding will go better this time. I know a lot more what to expect and who to contact if an issue does arise!
Sister has been using the potty during the day for about 6 weeks. She is sleeping much better by herself and we hope to separate the side carried crib to a 'toddler bed' just away from our bed shortly.
My husband has secured 2.5 weeks vacation at my due date. In the event that I go early (and I do believe I will) he can use sick time.
We have a plan for Sister and the dogs. With any luck, we will have Gigi come here to take care of Sister and pooch. If other grandparents are available, pooch can wait at home for coworker to come and Gigi can see Baby's birth. K9 will be kenneled, hopefully before but if not a coworker will come by to take care of him until my husband can sneak away for a few hours to bring him and pooch in.
